The Board has been formed to promote, encourage and support research, education, and related activities and services regarding human development, especially of children in urban and large metropolitan areas. Merrill-Palmer has been fortunate to have had a long history of strong and effective Board of Visitors made up of prominent community representatives. These Members share a sincere interest in improving the lives of children and families. The Director of the Institute draws upon their council in an advisory capacity. Members of the Board also support the programs through donation, solicitation, and dissemination of program activity.

HERITAGE CIRCLE
Merrill-Palmer's Heritage Circle was formed to recognize the multi-generation involvement in the Institute's history. This group is made up of willing influential former Board members, community leaders and special friends of the Institute. The Heritage Circle supports the efforts of both Institute staff and Board of Visitors
